Uniper: a successful Wallstreet Suite v8 upgrade, assured through automated testing
How SkySparc supported Uniper's WSS v8 programme with independent quality assurance, migration validation and reconciliation — powered by OmniFi
As part of a strategic treasury-technology modernisation, Uniper upgraded its Wallstreet Suite platform from version 7.4 to WSS v8. SkySparc was engaged to support the programme as owner of the Quality Assurance within Migration workstream, providing independent testing, migration validation and reconciliation alongside Uniper and the system vendor.

Independent, automated assurance for a controlled move to WSS v8
A neutral third party validating migrated data and transaction flows alongside the client and the system vendor.
~500 test cases and 4,500+ test executions on OmniFi across the project phases.
A transparent, metrics-based route to a stable move from WSS 7.4 to v8.
The challenge
Uniper’s Wallstreet Suite environment supports a broad range of treasury instruments — spanning foreign exchange, money market, financing, collateral management and interest-rate risk products. That diversity of instrument types and supporting business processes significantly increased the complexity of testing, migration validation and reconciliation across the upgrade programme.
Given the size and complexity of the implementation, delivering a successful migration while maintaining operational continuity required a comprehensive quality-assurance framework, extensive test coverage and close collaboration between the client, the system vendor and the implementation partners. Uniper’s heavy reliance on OmniFi for reporting, process automation, reconciliations and control activities added a further dimension: those solutions also had to be validated, adapted and migrated as part of the overall programme.
The solution
SkySparc’s role was to support Uniper through the programme as owner of the Quality Assurance within Migration workstream — providing independent quality assurance and validation, while the system vendor led the platform migration. The assignment covered the full testing lifecycle:
- Test strategy and master test planning
- Test governance and test management support
- Automated test design and execution
- Test result analysis, defect identification and troubleshooting
- Regression testing and migration validation
- Reporting of testing progress and quality metrics, and go-live readiness assessment
To maximise efficiency and coverage, SkySparc used OmniFi as the central platform for automated testing, validation, reconciliation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. A large repository of automated test cases was established covering treasury instruments, interfaces, static data, reporting, accounting, risk management and custom developments — repeatable across multiple project environments so that validation could be run and re-run consistently as the build matured.
Automated testing and migration support
Automation was central to the programme. Using OmniFi, SkySparc built and managed an extensive automated testing framework capable of large-scale validation and reconciliation across multiple environments. Around 500 test cases were maintained, and more than 4,500 test executions were performed across the different project phases — migration testing, regression testing, system integration testing and user acceptance test preparation — to support migration validation. Automating a large share of this activity increased coverage, reduced manual effort and gave stakeholders consistent, repeatable results ahead of UAT and go-live.
Where the vendor’s migration strategy required certain transaction types to be migrated manually rather than automatically converted, SkySparc supported the effort by using OmniFi to validate and reconcile the migrated data. For several of the more complex instrument types, automated migration controls and reconciliation routines were developed, allowing large volumes of migrated transactions to be verified efficiently and consistently. This reduced the manual validation required and let the project team focus on investigating genuine exceptions. Throughout, SkySparc worked closely with Uniper’s subject-matter experts and the system vendor to investigate discrepancies, define migration acceptance criteria and resolve items — ensuring positions, static data, settlement instructions, market data, accounting information and treasury configurations transferred accurately to the new platform.
OmniFi beyond testing
Uniper is an extensive OmniFi user for operational treasury processes and reporting, so a substantial portfolio of OmniFi reports and automated processes was migrated and revalidated against the WSS v8 environments. SkySparc led the associated OmniFi work packages: migrating reporting solutions, reconfiguring automated processes, validating scheduling and export functionality, setting up technical connectivity, supporting user acceptance, and running semi-automated synchronisation of static data between the upgrade environments and production through cut-over. This ensured that both the treasury management system and the supporting automation ecosystem were aligned and ready for production use, and helped streamline cut-over and go-live preparation.
The result
The programme concluded with a successful production go-live of Uniper’s WSS v8 platform in June 2026 — the culmination of several years of project effort and a modern foundation for Uniper’s future treasury operations. Approximately 18,000 parent transactions were migrated into the WSS v8 platform at go-live and, once mirror deals and lifecycle processing were included, generated more than 20,000 transactions. SkySparc independently validated the migrated data and transaction flows, enabling efficient identification of discrepancies while significantly reducing the effort required for manual verification.
The engagement delivered a stable and controlled transition into production, comprehensive automated test coverage, and a migrated, modernised OmniFi reporting and automation estate carried cleanly onto the new platform. It demonstrated how treasury expertise, automated quality assurance and strong stakeholder coordination combine to significantly reduce risk during large-scale treasury platform transformations — with SkySparc supporting the client throughout, alongside the system vendor.
“The combination of SkySparc’s treasury expertise, structured quality-assurance approach and extensive use of OmniFi automation helped us manage a complex WSS v8 upgrade with confidence. Their support throughout testing, migration validation and go-live preparation was a key contributor to the success of the programme.”
