Senior Python Developer

We are supporting a leading investment firm in hiring a Senior Python Developer to join a Middle Office Technology team sitting at the heart of the trading stack. The role focuses on building and maintaining Python services around a core front-to-back trading platform, supporting trade booking, data extraction, and downstream integration across operations, data platforms, fund administrators, and external counterparties.
This is a business-facing position, working closely with traders, operations, and Front Office technology teams to deliver robust, production-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain Python services supporting the full trade lifecycle, including booking, positions, and valuations
• Develop and maintain integrations between trading platforms and downstream systems using APIs and messaging technologies
• Support data extraction and distribution to operations teams, data platforms, fund administrators, and external counterparties
• Work closely with traders, operations, and Front Office technology teams to gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Participate across the full delivery lifecycle, including design, build, testing, deployment, and production support
• Contribute to platform stability, optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Apply strong engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, and cloud-native development
• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation covering services, integrations, and operational processes
Required Skills and Experience
• 5+ years of commercial Python development experience in a production environment
• Strong experience with systems integration using APIs and messaging-based architectures
• Solid understanding of capital markets trade lifecycles and post-trade workflows
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with cloud-native development practices, including CI/CD pipelines and DevOps (AWS)
• Strong communication skills and confidence working in business-facing roles
• Background in investment banking, asset management, or trading technology environments is highly desirable.
