Automated testing with OmniFi ensured a smooth, efficient TMS upgrade and future-ready processes
The challenge
Telia sought to take advantage of new opportunities under IFRS 9, the International Financial Reporting Standard on hedge accounting. When its TMS vendor released an IFRS 9-compliant version, Telia built a strong business case to upgrade — with two clear goals: minimize user impact and maximize process reusability.

As the TMS is hosted remotely, the vendor managed the technical upgrade. SkySparc was engaged to oversee testing — combining its consultants’ experience with the automated testing module of OmniFi, installed in both test and production environments.Clear roles were defined for each party, and SkySparc liaised between external providers to enable back-end access for automated testing across the old and new system versions.
The solution
Working closely with SkySparc, Telia compiled a comprehensive portfolio of test cases to ensure the upgraded TMS met all business requirements.
SkySparc consultants built and executed around 400 automated test cases over a three-month period, covering approximately 130 man-days of work.
Where possible, SkySparc leveraged proven test cases from recent upgrade projects to increase efficiency.

The project was delivered on time and on budget, enabling Telia’s treasury team to optimize hedge-accounting processes in line with IFRS 9 requirements.
